Hon'ble Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh laid the foundation stone for BDL's new Naval Systems Manufacturing Facility at T. Sirasapalli village in Anakapalli district, Andhra Pradesh. The facility will be spread across nearly 160 acres and focus on underwater weapon systems, torpedoes, mines and associated naval systems for the Indian Navy. The estimated investment is around Rs 500 crore with completion expected in approximately four years. The project aims to enhance BDL's production capacity and enable execution of multiple concurrent projects while strengthening collaboration with DRDO laboratories and Indian Navy establishments in the Visakhapatnam region. About 3000 direct and indirect employment opportunities are expected along with promotion of local MSMEs.
This announcement signals a major greenfield expansion of BDL's manufacturing capabilities with Rs 500 crore capex, representing a significant strategic bet on India's indigenous defence manufacturing and underwater warfare capabilities.
