Bharat Forge's wholly-owned subsidiary Agneyastra Energetics Limited has broken ground on a new strategic defence manufacturing facility near Madakasira in Andhra Pradesh. The greenfield project spans over 1,000 acres with a planned investment of ₹1,500 crore to be deployed over 2-4 years. The facility will manufacture advanced energetics, ammunition, propellants and pyrotechnic systems for defence, aerospace and space applications. It is expected to create approximately 800 direct and 2,500 indirect jobs. The project aims to reduce India's reliance on imported energetics materials and aligns with the government's Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative.
This represents a major capital expansion by Bharat Forge into indigenous defence energetics manufacturing, signalling long-term growth ambitions in the defence sector. The ₹1,500 crore investment is significant relative to the company's net worth and could impact near-term capital allocation priorities.
