Bharat Petroleum's joint venture IBV Brasil Petróleo Ltda. has received approval for the Final Investment Decision (FID) on the SEAP-I Project in Brazil's BM-SEAL-11 Concession. The project involves developing oil and gas discoveries, with BPCL holding a 65.40% stake in IBV. A Floating Production Storage and Offloading vessel (P-81 FPSO) with capacity to produce 120,000 barrels of oil/condensate and process 10 million m³ of gas per day will be deployed. IBV's total investment in the project is expected to be approximately USD 2.8 billion. The project aims to strengthen India's energy security by providing access to equity oil.
This represents a significant international capex commitment of USD 2.8 billion that could materially impact BPCL's balance sheet and future earnings, though returns are long-term given the project's development stage.
