The Government of Malaysia has agreed to extend its existing insulin supply contract with Biocon Biologics' Malaysian subsidiary, Biocon Sdn. Bhd., by an additional six months, from April 29, 2025 to October 28, 2025. The original 36-month contract was awarded in 2022 and was set to end in April 2025. Biocon Biologics has been supplying recombinant human insulin products manufactured at its Johor, Malaysia facility to Malaysia for nearly 10 years, with Duopharma Marketing Sdn. Bhd. as its commercial partner. A formal supplementary agreement will be executed subsequently between MoH, DMktg, and Biocon.
This extension provides short-term revenue continuity for Biocon Biologics in the Malaysian market but is a brief bridge rather than a long-term win. Investors should watch for a fresh long-term tender, as the original three-year contract has now expired.
