Biocon has signed an out-licensing agreement with Ajanta Pharma to market Semaglutide, a diabetes drug, across 26 countries. Biocon will supply the drug while Ajanta handles marketing — exclusive in 23 countries and semi-exclusive in 3, covering Africa, Middle East and Central Asia. The deal expands Biocon's GLP-1 portfolio reach via Ajanta's branded generic network in 30 plus countries. CEO Siddharth Mittal called it a strategic step to maximize value of Biocon's peptide investments and broaden affordable access to Semaglutide.
Positive for Biocon — expands Semaglutide/GLP-1 portfolio reach to 26 emerging markets via Ajanta's network. Likely to drive incremental revenue.
