BirlaNu Limited's board has approved setting up a new greenfield Fibre Cement Board manufacturing plant near Krishnapatnam port in Nellore district, Andhra Pradesh. The Phase I plant will have a capacity of 72,000 metric tons per annum and is expected to be commissioned within 18 months. The total estimated investment is ₹127 crore, covering the plant setup, infrastructure, and land acquisition for future expansion. The project will be funded through internal accruals and borrowings, with no equity dilution indicated. The board also approved the unaudited standalone and consolidated financial results for Q1 FY26 (quarter ended June 30, 2025) at the same meeting. The rationale is to scale operations, add premium product lines, and gain better market access through a port-based location.
This is a meaningful capacity addition into fibre cement boards, a growing construction materials segment, and could drive future revenue growth. Since the investment is funded via internal accruals and debt, existing shareholders are not diluted, though borrowing could marginally increase leverage. Short-term stock reaction may be neutral to mildly positive, as the actual revenue benefit is 18+ months away.
