BMW Industries commissioned two new tube mills and a 1.28 MW rooftop solar power plant at its Jamshedpur facility, involving a ₹50 crore investment funded through bank finance and internal accruals. The expansion adds 60,000 metric tonnes per annum to the tube manufacturing capacity, building on the existing 96,000 MT per annum capacity that was running at around 70% utilisation. The new solar installation will partially meet the plant's energy needs, reduce reliance on conventional power, and support the company's ESG objectives. The expanded capacity targets products such as MS and GI pipes, which are seeing growing demand across sectors. The inauguration was led by the Executive In-Charge of Tata Steel's Tubes Division along with senior company officials.
This capacity addition signals management's confidence in rising demand for steel tubes and pipes, which could translate into higher volumes and revenue in upcoming quarters. The solar plant may help reduce long-term power costs, while the bank-funded component adds some leverage but was partly cushioned by internal accruals.
