Borosil Renewables has upgraded its solar glass capacity expansion plan from 500 TPD to 600 TPD, to be added through two new furnaces (SG-4 and SG-5) of 300 TPD each. The estimated investment has risen sharply from Rs. 675 crores to Rs. 950 crores, with commissioning expected between October and December 2026. The expansion will take total installed capacity from 1,000 TPD to 1,600 TPD, a 60% jump. The decision is driven by the government's anti-dumping duty on solar glass imports from China and Vietnam, which the company expects to boost domestic demand. Funding will come from a mix of equity, debt, and internal accruals.
Positive for long-term growth prospects as anti-dumping protection and higher domestic demand could drive strong revenue and earnings growth once the new capacity comes online. However, the higher Rs. 950 crore outlay (likely a significant chunk of net worth) may result in debt build-up or equity dilution, which could weigh on near-term returns.
