CDSL has announced a change at the top of its Governing Board. Shri Balkrishna V. Chaubal completed his second term as Public Interest Director and Chairperson on July 29, 2025. He had originally been nominated by SEBI for a three-year term from July 30, 2019 to July 29, 2022, which was then extended for another three years till July 29, 2025. With effect from July 30, 2025, existing Public Interest Director Shri Gurumoorthy Mahalingam will assume the role of Chairperson. His chairmanship runs till February 26, 2026, coinciding with the end of his first term as Public Interest Director. Both directors are SEBI-nominated Public Interest Directors, not executives of the company.
This is a planned, orderly transition at the board level with no change in management or strategy. Shareholders should see minimal impact on operations, as Mr. Mahalingam was already a Public Interest Director on the board and is simply elevated to the chairperson role.
