The Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission (MERC) has approved an arrangement for Adani Electricity Mumbai Limited to procure 125 MW of power from Dhariwal Infrastructure Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of CESC Limited. The power will come from Dhariwal's 2x300 MW thermal power plant located at Tadali in Chandrapur district, Maharashtra, and will be supplied on a round-the-clock basis through a competitive bidding process. The arrangement is for a medium-term period of 26 months from the date of supply commencement, at a tariff of Rs 5.47 per unit. CESC confirmed that there is no promoter or related party interest in Adani Electricity Mumbai Limited, and this is not a related-party transaction.
This is a positive development for CESC as it secures a long-term offtake for its subsidiary's power capacity, providing revenue visibility for 26 months. The order is likely material to CESC's overall revenue, potentially supporting earnings from its power generation subsidiary.
