DR Axion India, a wholly owned subsidiary, approved a new aluminium products plant in the Chennai metropolitan area. The estimated Rs 280 crore project will add 15% to current capacity within 12-24 months. Funding is planned as 90% through a term loan and 10% from internal funds. Average capacity use is 85%, and the existing Othappai facility is fully occupied.
Long-term growth and operating benefits are possible, but borrowing, construction and start-up costs may weigh on near-term profit and cash flow.
