Dalmia Bharat Sugar's board approved a US$132 Million project in Tanzania to set up a 3,500 TCD sugar manufacturing unit with a 20 MW co-generation facility, to be executed through Eagle Agrotech Tanzania Limited, a step-down subsidiary of its 51%-owned Eagle Agrotech Holdings Limited (EAHL). The board also approved an additional investment of up to US$19.70 Million in EAHL (over and above the US$3 Million already approved) to fund its 51% equity contribution, with the project expected to complete in 2-3 years. Additionally, the board cleared the incorporation of a wholly owned subsidiary in the UAE (Abu Dhabi Global Market) to hold the company's existing and future foreign investments, starting with US$1,000. The board also appointed Shri Lokendra Singh Lamba, a 35+ year sugar industry veteran, as Unit Head of its Jawaharpur Unit in Uttar Pradesh effective July 15, 2026.
This is a significant overseas capex commitment, more than doubling the company's earlier investment in EAHL, and signals a major international expansion into African sugar manufacturing. The 2-3 year execution timeline and large project size in an emerging market like Tanzania introduce execution and currency risk, while the related-party nature of the investment (since EAHL is already a 51% subsidiary) means shareholders should track project milestones closely.
