Ddev Plastiks Industries has announced that its Board of Directors approved entering the Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) business within the renewable energy sector. Under Phase 1, the company will set up a 5 GWh BESS manufacturing facility by FY 2026-27, with an initial capital outlay of approximately Rs. 150-200 crores. The company will also build a dedicated R&D Centre focused on advanced battery technologies. Revenue contribution from this new segment is expected to start from the second half of FY 2026-27. The move targets utilities, commercial & industrial, and residential customers, tapping into India's growing energy storage demand projected to reach 208 GWh by 2030.
This is a significant diversification move away from the company's existing plastics business into a high-growth renewable energy segment, which could drive future revenue growth but also requires substantial capital investment of Rs. 150-200 crores with revenue benefits materialising only from H2 FY27. The market may react positively to the growth narrative, though execution risks and capital allocation will be closely watched.
