Deccan Gold Mines announced a potential nickel-copper-platinum group elements (PGE) discovery at its Bhalukona Nickel Project in Chhattisgarh. Rock chip and soil sampling has outlined an approximately 700-metre-long mineralised zone, with geological mapping showing rock formations similar to known nickel deposits in Western Australia and Finland. Drone magnetic surveys and induced-polarisation (IP) surveys suggest multiple sulphide mineralisation zones, some extending up to 300 metres below the surface. The 30 sq. km Bhalukona-Jamnidih Composite Licence was granted by the Government of Chhattisgarh on 1 April 2025, and the company plans to begin drilling the primary target once the local harvest season ends. Management claims this is the first Ni-Cu-PGE sulphide mineralisation of this kind identified in India.
Positive early-stage exploration news that could lift sentiment on the stock and draw attention from critical-minerals investors, but the find is still pre-resource with no estimated size, grade, or economic feasibility yet — so the stock may remain volatile as drilling results come in over the coming months.
