NTPC announced that the first 250 MW unit of the 4x250 MW Tehri Pumped Storage Plant (PSP), operated by its subsidiary THDC India Limited, has been declared on Commercial Operation effective 00:00 Hrs on 07.06.2025. With this addition, NTPC Group's total installed and commercial capacity rises to 80,515 MW. The Tehri PSP is a pumped storage hydro project, and this marks the commissioning of its first of four units. The remaining three units are expected to follow.
This adds 250 MW of operational capacity from the energy storage segment to NTPC Group, supporting peak power management and incremental revenue. It reflects steady progress on NTPC's clean energy capacity expansion pipeline, which is a positive signal for long-term shareholders.
