NTPC has announced that Unit-3 (660 MW) of the Barh Super Thermal Power Project, Stage-1 (3x660 MW) has successfully completed its trial operation and is now included in NTPC's installed capacity. With this addition, NTPC's total installed capacity has risen to 60,926 MW on a standalone basis and 82,028 MW on a group basis. The Barh project is a major greenfield power project in Bihar, and the completion of this unit marks a key milestone in its phased commissioning. The unit has met all approved norms and received due regulatory approvals before being declared operational.
This is a positive development for NTPC shareholders as the addition of 660 MW of operational capacity will contribute incremental revenue and earnings. Each new unit adds to NTPC's long-term earnings potential, and the milestone reduces execution risk for the remaining units of the Barh project.
