Dredging Corporation of India Limited has commissioned a new 150 kW Solar Rooftop Plant at its Visakhapatnam Head Office. The plant is expected to generate approximately 2.7 lakh units of clean energy annually, resulting in estimated savings of about ₹30 lakhs per year. The ₹2.5 lakh monthly savings will reduce the company's dependence on conventional power sources. The project, implemented under the PM Surya Ghar Yojana with NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam Limited as implementation partner, was executed by Ledure Lightings Limited. The initiative also aims to avoid approximately 220-240 tonnes of CO2 emissions annually, equivalent to planting over 10,000 trees.
This is a positive ESG development showing DCIL's commitment to sustainability and cost efficiency. While the financial impact (₹30 lakhs annual savings) is modest, the green energy initiative aligns with government priorities and may improve the company's environmental standing with investors focused on sustainable practices.
