A fatal accident occurred at Dwarikesh Sugar's factory in Dwarikesh Nagar, Bijnor (UP), where the bottom of a Semikeshner vessel in the DN Boiling House suddenly detached, releasing hot water. Mr. Tejpal Singh, Head Fitter, suffered critical burn injuries and later died. Following inspection, the Chief Director of Factories, UP, allowed the offence to be compounded as it was the company's first such violation, with a total penalty of ₹2,00,000 (₹1,00,000 each on the Occupier and Factory Manager), already paid on July 9, 2025. The company has stated there is no material financial impact but has begun a comprehensive internal safety audit and is rolling out preventive measures across all units.
Negligible direct financial impact (₹2 lakh penalty is trivial for the company), but the incident carries reputational and regulatory significance. Investors should watch for any follow-up regulatory action, insurance claims, or operational disruptions, though the company says production is unaffected.
