Eicher Motors is forming a new 50:50 joint venture with Volvo Group to enter the vehicle financing business in India. The company will invest up to Rs. 750 crores to acquire a 50% equity stake in Volvo Financial Services (VFS) India. The JV will serve as the captive financing arm for VE Commercial Vehicles, Eicher Motors, and Volvo Group products in the country. VFS India currently has assets under management of Rs. 1,825 crores as of March 31, 2026. This builds on the existing 18-year partnership between the two companies through VECV. The transaction is contingent upon regulatory approvals.
This is a strategic expansion into financial services, deepening the partnership with Volvo Group and adding a new revenue stream. Shareholders may view this positively as it extends Eicher into the financing value chain, potentially boosting sales of Royal Enfield and Eicher commercial vehicles.
