Exide Industries invested about Rs 100 crore (Rs 99.99 crore) in wholly owned subsidiary Exide Energy Solutions (EESL) on 15 July 2026, as part of a board-approved Rs 1,400 crore infusion. EESL is setting up a greenfield multi-gigawatt lithium-ion cell manufacturing plant in Bengaluru for EVs and stationary applications. Total investment in EESL now stands at Rs 4,902.23 crore, with shareholding unchanged at 100 percent. EESL reported FY26 turnover of Rs 157.56 crore and a loss of Rs 248.16 crore, with net worth of Rs 3,991.06 crore.
Continued funding for lithium-ion plant build-out; EESL remains loss-making so near-term returns limited but supports long-term EV battery growth strategy.
