Government of India, promoter of LIC, is exercising the oversubscription option in its ongoing Offer for Sale. Base offer of 3.16 crore shares (2.50%) plus oversubscription of 5.06 crore shares (4%) totals 8.22 crore shares or 6.50% of LIC paid-up capital. Retail investors get 10% quota on August 5, 2026, with Rs. 10 discount per share for those bidding at cut-off price. Up to 50 lakh shares are reserved for LIC employees as well.
Higher government supply via OFS may pressure LIC share price short term. Retail bidders at cut-off get Rs. 10 per share discount.
