GAIL has pushed back the completion deadline of its 1,104 km Kochi-Koottanad-Bengaluru-Mangaluru natural gas pipeline by about 10 months — from February 2025 to December 2025. So far, 802 km of pipeline has been laid and 628 km has been commissioned. The company says the delay is due to difficulties in getting permissions and hindrance-free work fronts from authorities. The Board approved this revised schedule on April 9, 2025. The company has stated that no additional investment is required for the balance work.
Slight negative for near-term sentiment as the project is delayed, but the company clarifies no extra capex is needed, so the financial impact may be limited. The delay is due to external regulatory/land issues rather than operational problems.
