Ginni Filaments board has approved setting up a wholly owned subsidiary in South Africa named Ginni RSA (Pty) Ltd. The new entity will manufacture, trade, market, distribute and sell wet wipes and allied consumer products. The company will invest up to Rs 10 crore, or its South African Rand equivalent, as initial capital in one or more tranches, funded through cash. Incorporation needs approval from South Africa regulator CIPC and reporting under FEMA Overseas Investment Rules via an authorised dealer bank in India.
South Africa foray into wet wipes shows a growth push in consumer products, but execution and forex risks apply. Capital outlay of up to Rs 10 crore is modest for the company.
