Godavari Biorefineries has been granted a patent by China's patent office (CNIPA) for a compound called 5-Hydroxy-1,4-naphthalenedione, which has shown strong inhibitory effects on cancer and cancer stem cells in laboratory (in vitro) studies. The compound demonstrated significant efficacy against multiple cancer cell types, including breast and prostate cancer. The patent covers a novel class of compounds with potential applications in oncology treatment. This is an intellectual property milestone in a key market (China) and strengthens the company's patent portfolio, though the work is still at a pre-clinical stage.
