Godawari Power & Ispat Ltd (GPIL) has invested Rs. 50 Crores in its wholly owned subsidiary Godawari New Energy Private Ltd (GNEPL) by subscribing to 5 crore 0.1% Non-Cumulative Participating Optionally Convertible Redeemable Preference Shares of Rs. 10 each at par, on a rights basis. The funds will be used by GNEPL for capex and working capital needs to set up a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) plant in Maharashtra. GNEPL was incorporated in June 2025, has not yet started operations, and reported a net worth of Rs. 447.98 Crores as of June 2026 with zero turnover. Since GNEPL is a 100% subsidiary, this is a related party transaction done at arms-length price.
This is an internal capital infusion into GPIL's green energy subsidiary and signals the company's push into the battery energy storage space. For shareholders, this represents a Rs. 50 Crore commitment toward a new BESS business vertical, which could be a future growth driver but currently contributes nothing to revenue.
