GTN Textiles' board approved Q1 FY26 unaudited results, with revenue from continuing operations of Rs 129 lakh (from new cotton yarn trading) and a loss before tax of Rs 13 lakh. Profit from discontinued operations stood at Rs 168 lakh. Chairman & Managing Director B.K. Patodia retired due to age and health reasons and was conferred the lifetime title of Chairman Emeritus. His elder son and promoter Umang Patodia (DIN 00003588) was appointed as the new Chairman & Managing Director w.e.f. August 6, 2025. Independent Director V.N. Balakrishnan also resigned on completion of his 5-year term. Two independent directors (N.K. Bafna and C.K. Gopalakrishnan Nair) were reappointed for a second 5-year term, and a new secretarial auditor was appointed for FY 2025-26 to FY 2029-30.
This is a smooth promoter-family leadership succession with no disruption expected. The company has wound down its yarn manufacturing (discontinued in Q2 FY23), received full Rs 87.14 crore proceeds from a 25.76-acre land sale, and is now repositioning as a cotton yarn trading company. Shareholders should watch Q1 trading volumes to gauge whether the new business model can build meaningful revenue after years of losses.
