GSFC has informed the exchanges about two updates. The Board has approved the appointment of Mr. Sanjeev Kumar (DIN 3600655) as Managing Director for a five-year term effective August 1, 2025, on the recommendation of the Nomination and Remuneration Committee. Alongside, the company shared its Q1 FY25-26 results: Profit After Tax jumped 51% year-on-year to Rs. 140 crore, while Operating EBITDA nearly doubled to Rs. 201 crore (from Rs. 117 crore), lifting EBITDA margin from 8% to 11%. Total revenue was broadly flat at Rs. 2,212 crore, and EPS rose to Rs. 3.51 from Rs. 2.32. The fertilizer segment EBIT climbed from Rs. 86 crore to Rs. 137 crore, supported by better NPK trading and APS/AS sales, while the Industrial Products segment swung to a Rs. 25 crore EBIT profit. Urea sales dropped 73% due to the revamping project and exclusion of trial-run volumes.
Sharp profit growth driven by margin expansion and a turnaround in Industrial Products is a positive for shareholders. The new MD brings fresh leadership for GSFC's ongoing capex projects (Sulphuric Acid, Phosphoric Acid at Sikka), though investors should watch execution and the company's warning on rising raw material costs (P2O5, sulphur) that may force NPK price hikes in the coming quarter.
