GFL subsidiary GFCL EV Products is getting about US$50 million from IFC, part of the World Bank Group, to build India's first integrated battery materials facility. The investment is through compulsorily convertible instruments. The subsidiary makes battery chemicals, cathode materials and binders covering over 50% of LFP battery cell bill of materials. GFL chairman called it an endorsement of growth trajectory. This is IFC's first investment in an Indian battery materials company. Barclays advised on the deal.
Positively validates GFCL battery materials business with a marquee World Bank Group investor; strengthens long term growth story for shareholders.
