Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) has received a major contract from the Ministry of Defence for the supply of 97 Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Mk-1A — comprising 68 fighters and 29 twin-seaters — for the Indian Air Force, valued at over Rs. 62,370 crore (excluding taxes). Deliveries will begin in 2027-28 and be completed over six years. The aircraft will have over 64% indigenous content, with 67 additional items compared to HAL's earlier LCA Mk1A contract signed in January 2021. The project involves nearly 105 Indian vendors and is expected to generate around 11,750 direct and indirect jobs per year. The deal is being executed under the 'Buy (India-IDDM)' category, reinforcing India's self-reliance push in defence manufacturing.
This is one of HAL's largest single contracts and provides strong multi-year revenue visibility through 2033-34. It significantly boosts HAL's order book and reinforces its position as India's premier defence PSU, likely to be viewed positively by the market.
