HOCL has informed BSE that the temporary shutdown of its Kochi-based Phenol Plant, originally announced for 10 days from 23.05.2026, will continue until further notice. The extension is needed to complete statutory testing of the BPCL LPG cross-country pipeline and to carry out maintenance on certain equipment and pipelines. The company has not given a new restart date. Importantly, the Hydrogen Peroxide Plant at the same Kochi complex will continue to operate normally during this period.
The extended shutdown means continued loss of revenue from phenol production, which is negative for the company in the short term. However, since only the phenol plant is affected and the hydrogen peroxide unit keeps running, the overall financial hit is partial. The lack of a clear restart timeline adds uncertainty for shareholders.
