HT Media Limited and two subsidiaries (Next Radio Limited and HT Music & Entertainment Company Limited) have decided to voluntarily surrender their FM radio licenses issued by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. The affected stations are Radio 'Nasha' in Mumbai, Radio One in Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore, and Radio 'Fever' in Chennai. All operations will cease by June 15, 2026. For FY25, these radio stations contributed Rs. 29.19 Crores in turnover (1.62% of consolidated revenue), but had a negative net worth of Rs. -172.08 Crores (-10.33% of consolidated net worth). The company cited financial and strategic unviability as the reason for the surrender.
The closure removes a loss-making division with a negative net worth of over Rs. 172 crore from HT Media's consolidated books, which could be marginally positive for future earnings. However, the revenue contribution of just 1.62% means the direct stock price impact will be limited.
