CRISIL upgraded IOB's credit ratings. Tier II Basel III bonds moved from AA/Stable to AA+/Stable, and the Fixed Deposit rating went from AA+/Stable to AAA/Stable (though the FD rating stays on Notice of Withdrawal). The upgrade is driven by sustained improvement in asset quality, with Gross NPAs falling to 1.4% in March 2026 from 2.1% a year earlier, and credit costs dropping to 0.9%. Net profit rose to Rs 5,208 crore in FY26 from Rs 3,335 crore in FY25. Gross advances grew around 24% to Rs 3,10,423 crore. Strong expected government support continues to back the bank.
Positive rating upgrade signals stronger financial health, better asset quality, and improved earnings. Likely to lower borrowing costs and lift investor confidence.
