Moody's Investors Service has upgraded IndusInd Bank's rating outlook from Negative to Stable while reaffirming all credit ratings at Ba1 for long-term and Not Prime for short-term. The bank has demonstrated strong capital position with CET1 ratio improving to 16.2% as of March 2026 from 15.1% a year earlier. Following the March 2025 accounting discrepancy, the bank completed an internal review with no additional material adverse findings and overhauled its leadership team with new CEO and CFO appointments. Funding stability has improved with retail and CASA deposits rising to 41% of total deposits from 31% in 2021. Asset quality remains a watch area with gross problem loan ratio at 3.4%, though microfinance exposure was reduced to 5% of total loans from 9%.
The outlook upgrade signals improved creditworthiness and reduced default risk, which is positive for bondholders and depositors. This should support the bank's ability to raise capital and maintain funding stability, though the Ba1 rating remains below investment grade.
