LTIMindtree announced that Mr. Debashis Chatterjee, CEO & Managing Director, has opted for early retirement due to personal reasons, effective end of business on May 30, 2025 — about six months before his original term was to end on November 13, 2025. The Board has appointed Mr. Venugopal Lambu (Venu) as the new CEO & MD with effect from May 31, 2025, until January 23, 2030. Lambu was already serving as CEO Designate and had worked at LTIMindtree earlier from October 2020 to January 2023, where he scaled global markets 5x. He rejoined from Randstad Digital, where he led its USD 3 billion digital arm, and brings 30+ years of experience across Cognizant, HCL Technologies, and IBM. Chatterjee led LTIMindtree since the 2022 L&T Infotech–Mindtree merger, growing it to India's sixth-largest IT services firm.
For shareholders, this is a pre-planned succession with no governance red flags — Lambu was already CEO Designate, ensuring strategic continuity. The early departure of Chatterjee, while slightly unexpected, is mitigated by the smooth transition and an experienced replacement with prior LTIMindtree track record. Near-term stock impact likely neutral; focus will shift to execution under the new CEO.
