izmo Microsystems, the semiconductor subsidiary of IZMO Limited, signed an MoU with IIT Madras to begin Phase II of the MeitY-sanctioned CPPICS (SPECTRA) silicon photonics program. The five-year program has a total outlay of Rs 99.94 crore, with MeitY contributing Rs 97.54 crore and izmo committing Rs 2.40 crore. It targets 1.6 Tbps optical transceivers, co-packaged optics, quantum communications and photonic AI. izmo will lead packaging and industrialization. Phase I completed over 95 percent of its milestones.
Positions izmo in the fast-growing silicon photonics and co-packaged optics market for AI infrastructure with government validation. Commercial gains are multi-year away.
