Jindal Steel has completed its 6 MTPA expansion at the Angul Integrated Steel Complex in Odisha by commissioning the third Basic Oxygen Furnace (BOF-3) of 3 MTPA. With this milestone, the Angul plant's total crude steel capacity has doubled to 12 MTPA, making it one of India's largest single-location integrated steel complexes. The company's overall crude steel capacity now stands at 15.6 MTPA, including 3.6 MTPA at the Raigarh facility. The expansion was completed within the planned timeframe and includes fully operationalised upstream and downstream facilities such as coke ovens and the CRM complex. Management expects this to drive higher volumes, improve capacity utilisation, deliver operating leverage, and strengthen margins.
Positive for shareholders — the doubled capacity at Angul should boost production volumes and revenue, while operating leverage from higher utilisation can support margin expansion and profitability going forward.
