On the reaction day the stock moved 0.8 pts more than Nifty 100 and in line with its Iron & Steel peers, over the same two closes: a difference in percentage points, not a measure of what the filing did.

Jindal Steel announced doubling of structural steel capacity at its Raigarh facility from 1.2 MTPA to 2.4 MTPA, targeted by mid-2028. The expansion includes a new dedicated structural steel mill plus advanced upstream and downstream upgrades, enabling production of India's largest parallel flange sections with depths up to 1,100 mm and weights up to 1,500 kg per metre. Aimed at infrastructure, energy, refinery, and high-rise construction demand, the move will reduce dependence on imported heavy sections.
Positive for long-term market share in structural steel. Capex spread over about 2.5 years may weigh on margins in the near term.
