JSW Energy has fully commissioned the 240 MW (3 x 80 MW) Kutehr Hydroelectric Power Plant in Chamba district, Himachal Pradesh, by switching on the third and final 80 MW unit. The entire 240 MW capacity has started supplying power to Haryana under a 35-year PPA with Haryana Power Purchase Centre at a levelized ceiling tariff of ₹4.50/kWh. With this and recent wind capacity additions, the company's total installed capacity has risen to 13,020 MW from 10,875 MW at the end of FY25, a jump of 2,145 MW in just a few months. Renewables now make up 57% of the portfolio (hydro 1,631 MW, solar 2,157 MW, wind 3,574 MW), and total locked-in capacity stands at 30.3 GW including 12.7 GW under construction.
This is a positive development for shareholders as it adds a new revenue stream backed by a long-term offtake agreement at a fixed tariff, strengthens the renewable energy mix, and demonstrates strong project execution. The capacity ramp-up supports JSW Energy's target of reaching 30 GW by FY2030 and should positively contribute to earnings going forward.
