JSW Energy has commissioned the second 80 MW unit of its 240 MW Kutehr Hydro Plant in Chamba, Himachal Pradesh, bringing total commissioned capacity at the site to 160 MW. Power dispatch to Haryana has already started from the 160 MW capacity, with the final 80 MW unit expected soon. The entire 240 MW output is backed by a 35-year PPA with Haryana Power Purchase Centre at a levelized tariff of ₹4.50/kWh. With this addition, JSW Energy's installed hydro capacity rises to 1,551 MW and renewables now make up 56% of its overall portfolio. The company described the project as one of the fastest-built greenfield hydro projects in India, with the timing helping it capture peak monsoon generation season.
Positive for shareholders — incremental revenue-generating capacity is coming online during the high-demand monsoon season under a long-term fixed-price PPA, strengthening JSW Energy's renewable portfolio and supporting its 30 GW capacity target by FY2030.
