On the reaction day the stock moved 2.1 pts less than Nifty 100 and 0.4 pts more than its Iron & Steel peers, over the same two closes: a difference in percentage points, not a measure of what the filing did.

JSW Steel approved a 5 million tonne per year expansion and upgrade at JSW JFE Steel's Sambalpur plant. The 50:50 joint venture with JFE Steel will fund the Rs 7,500 crore project equally, with JSW Steel contributing Rs 3,750 crore. Work is planned from April 2027 and completion in about 3.5 years, subject to approvals. It will also form a wholly owned UAE subsidiary for investment, trading and business development, with capital of AED 100,000.
The expansion may support capacity, product mix and exports, but the Rs 3,750 crore contribution could weigh on near-term cash flow. The UAE unit is initially small.
