Jupiter Tatravagonka Railwheel Factory (JTRWF), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Jupiter Wagons Ltd, has signed a definitive 10-year supply agreement with Tatravagonka a.s., a leading European rail wagon manufacturer based in Slovakia. Under the deal, JTRWF will supply rail wheels, axles, and wheelsets to Tatravagonka and its affiliates, with commercial supplies starting by end of 2027. Tatravagonka currently consumes 20,000-30,000 wheelsets annually. JTRWF plans to export approximately 50,000 wheelsets per year to the European market from its greenfield Odisha plant, which has a total annual capacity of 100,000 wheelsets and was built at an estimated investment of ₹3,000 crore. Management expects exports to generate ₹1,000-1,500 crore in revenue over the coming years, making this India's first rail wheel manufacturer to export wheelsets globally.
This agreement validates JWL's manufacturing capabilities for global markets and signals a major shift from net importer to exporter of rail wheelsets, with the 10-year contract providing strong revenue visibility and supporting the company's long-term export ambitions.
