Knowledge Marine & Engineering Works Limited (KMEW) has received a work order worth ₹28.32 Crores (inclusive of GST) from Dredging Corporation of India Limited (DCIL), a government PSU. The contract involves chartering a Shallow Draft Trailing Suction Hopper Dredger (TSHD) for maintenance dredging at Pondicherry Port during 2024-25, covering approximately 2,00,000 cubic metres of dredging across the mouth, entrance channel and sand trap areas. The job is to be completed in 3 months with a possible 1-month extension. This marks KMEW's first engagement at Pondicherry Port and is the 8th contract from DCIL in the last 4 years, with the dredger to be deployed from KMEW's existing fleet.
Adds ₹28.32 Cr to the order book, strengthens revenue visibility, and expands KMEW's footprint to a new port. Use of existing fleet means minimal fresh capex, which is positive for margins. Mildly positive for the stock given continued order wins from a key government client.
