KPI Green Energy's subsidiary Sun Drops Energia Limited has executed a Battery Energy Storage Purchase Agreement (BESPA) with Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL) for developing a 120 MW / 240 MWh standalone battery energy storage system project. The project will be located at two substation sites in Gujarat - 220kV Gariyadhar AIS (65 MW) and 220kV Otha AIS (55 MW). The company will develop, own and operate the project and provide storage capacity to GUVNL on a long-term basis. This new agreement follows an earlier 445 MW / 890 MWh BESPA, bringing the group's cumulative BESS portfolio to 565 MW / 1,130 MWh. The project is supported by Viability Gap Funding through the Power System Development Fund under Phase-VIII competitive bidding.
This is a positive development as it significantly expands the company's BESS portfolio and reinforces its position in utility-scale energy storage. The long-term government contract provides revenue visibility, though the financial impact depends on the contracted tariff terms.
