Krishana Phoschem has secured a long-term supply of 70,000 metric tonnes per annum of green ammonia from NTPC Renewable Energy (a subsidiary of NTPC Green Energy), at a price of Rs. 51.80 per kg, through SECI's Green Ammonia auction. This works out to an annual contract value of roughly Rs. 362 crore. Ammonia is a critical raw material for the company's NPK fertilizer manufacturing, so this secures a key input at a fixed long-term price. The supply is part of a government-backed push by MNRE and the Department of Fertilizers to promote green energy use in the fertilizer value chain.
Positive for operations: the company locks in a critical raw material at a pre-agreed price, reducing input cost uncertainty and supporting margins in NPK fertilizer production. It also strengthens the green/sustainability profile, which may appeal to ESG-focused investors.
