KVS Castings has increased its installed production capacity from 7,200 Metric Tonnes Per Annum (MTPA) to 19,200 MTPA, more than 2.6 times its earlier capacity, with an addition of 12,000 MTPA. The new Unit-2 plant, located in Kashipur, Uttarakhand, commenced commercial operations on March 2, 2026, and will manufacture Cast Iron and Ductile Iron castings. The capacity expansion is being funded through the company's IPO proceeds earmarked for purchase of plant and machinery. Existing capacity utilisation was 76.20% before the expansion, and the company expects the new capacity to help meet growing demand, improve logistics, and enhance operating leverage.
This is a major capacity expansion that significantly boosts KVS Castings' revenue potential, but shareholders should watch whether the company can ramp up utilisation of the new 12,000 MTPA capacity to justify the investment. Near-term margins may face pressure from initial operating costs of the new plant.
