L&T Energy Hydrocarbon Onshore has secured a significant EPC order (valued at ₹1,000–₹2,500 crore) from Bharat Coal Gasification and Chemicals Ltd (BCGCL), a joint venture of Coal India Ltd and Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. The order covers a Coal-to-Ammonium-Nitrate project in Odisha, specifically Lump Sum Turnkey Package-3 for an Ammonia Synthesis Unit. The scope includes process licence, basic and detailed engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and performance guarantee test runs on an LSTK basis. The ammonia plant is part of the coal-to-chemicals value chain for producing nitric acid and ammonium nitrate, supporting India's self-reliance agenda in gasification-based downstream chemical infrastructure.
The order reinforces L&T's position as a leading EPC player in India's coal-to-chemicals segment and adds to the company's order book, though at the lower end of L&T's 'Significant' classification (₹1,000–₹2,500 crore), implying modest revenue contribution in the near term.
