LIC reported a 5.02% rise in Profit After Tax to Rs. 10,986 crore for Q1 FY26, while Total Premium Income grew 4.77% to Rs. 1,19,200 crore. Value of New Business (VNB) jumped 20.75% to Rs. 1,944 crore, with VNB margin expanding by 150 basis points to 15.4%. Assets Under Management crossed Rs. 57 lakh crore, up 6.47%, and the Solvency Ratio improved to 2.17 from 1.99. Non-Par product share within Individual business rose sharply to 30.34% from 23.94%, a key strategic milestone. However, the number of individual policies sold declined 14.75% to 30.39 lakh, and 13-month persistency (premium basis) slipped to 75.63% from 78.23%.
Positive for shareholders — strong VNB growth, margin expansion, improved solvency and lower expense ratio signal healthy fundamentals, though the drop in policy volumes and softening short-term persistency are minor watchpoints. Overall, the results reinforce LIC's market leadership at 63.51% share.
