LIC's Board approved its audited standalone and consolidated financial results for Q4 and FY2024-25, with auditors issuing an unmodified opinion. Profit after tax rose to Rs. 48,151.17 crore from Rs. 40,675.79 crore, up about 18.4% year-on-year, driven by higher investment income and surplus growth. Net premium income grew modestly to Rs. 4,88,148 crore (from Rs. 4,75,070 crore), while the Solvency Ratio improved to 2.11 from 1.98 and Gross NPAs fell to 1.46% from 2.01%. The Board recommended a final dividend of Rs. 12 per share (subject to AGM approval), with July 25, 2025 as the record date. Additionally, the Board amended the accounting policy to include procedures for derivatives and appointed Shri Ajay Kumar Shrivastava as the new Appointed Actuary effective June 1, 2025.
Positive for shareholders - LIC delivered strong profit growth, an improved solvency position, and declared a final dividend, signalling robust financial health. However, investors should note the auditor's emphasis of matter on Rs. 22,000+ crore of regulatory adjustments being amortised over coming years and a sharp rise in contingent liabilities.
