Lloyds Engineering Works (LEWL) has been selected as a consortium partner, alongside Primetals Technologies India and Primetals Technologies Austria, to design and build a 4.2 MTPA Pellet Plant Complex at SAIL's IISCO Steel Plant in Burnpur, West Bengal. The total consortium contract is worth approximately ₹613 crore (Indian portion) plus €18.26 million (Euro portion), to be completed within 39 months. Under the arrangement, LEWL will handle detailed design and engineering and supply some critical process equipment. The company highlighted this as a major milestone, noting it has built over 10 domestic and international collaborations in the past two years to win large industrial orders.
Positive for shareholders — this is a large, multi-year order from a reputed government PSU, which strengthens LEWL's order book and visibility. Execution risks remain given the 39-month timeline and consortium dependencies, but the win boosts credibility in the heavy engineering space.
