Lloyds Metals & Energy has won the Tandsi-III and Tandsi-III Extension coking coal mine with a premium of 10.5%. The mine, located on the Madhya Pradesh–Maharashtra border about 400 km from Ghugus, spans around 338 hectares with estimated total reserves of 23 million metric tonnes. The project will use a mix of opencast and underground mining methods, targeting a production capacity of up to 0.30 million tonnes per annum. A four-year development timeline is planned, and formal agreements will be executed in due course.
This is a positive development as it adds a coking coal asset to the company's mining portfolio, supporting backward integration for steel-making needs. However, the relatively small production capacity (0.30 MTPA) and 4-year build-out suggest any material financial impact will be gradual rather than immediate.
